LiteTails: Major Cutbacks Made to Disney KiteTails Show at Animal Kingdom

A severely scaled back version of Disney KiteTails is now playing at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The new version of the “show” has dropped all land-based performers and significantly reduced the length of the show. It’s really difficult to even call it Disney KiteTails after Disney even removed the Disney KiteTails banners that once used to sit at the entrance of the Discovery River Theater. Disney doesn’t advertise showtimes anymore, instead encouraging guests to keep their eyes to the sky throughout the day in case a show kicks off.

Here’s a look back at some of the Discovery River Theater decor for the old version of Disney KiteTails.

Here’s a look at the entrances today, missing the banners. The character flags were also removed in the theater.

Here’s a look at what guests can experience today, including the full video versions of both the Lion King “show” and the Jungle Book “show”. The “shows” kick off with character flotillas setting off on the Discovery River around Disney’s Animal Kingdom. KiteTails is finished by the time the first flotilla has reached the Discovery River Theater.

The shows last anywhere from 2.5 minutes to 4.5 minutes.
