While visiting Magic Kingdom earlier today, we decided to check in on the Splash Mountain demolition/Tiana’s Bayou Adventure construction. While the ride system will remain the same, Disney is making changes to the facade to create a salt mine theme to support the Tiana’s Foods backstory. We noticed that scaffolding now reaches the tallest part of the mountain as crews prepare to remove the iconic tree stump that has defined the Splash Mountain silhouette for decades, but has not place in the Tiana’s Bayou Adventure attraction. And here’s a look at the scaffolding and crews on site today. Just like when Disney was pushing for TRON to be completed, the construction schedule includes Saturdays for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure. So far, the pace of construction/demolition for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has been impressive and quicker than we’re used to seeing from Walt Disney World projects.
