An earthquake was just felt at Walt Disney World, a rarity for the Florida-based theme park. Preliminary data suggest that there was a 6.1 magnitude earthquake about 73 miles WNW of Mantua, Cuba. The quake could be felt throughout Florida, including at the Walt Disney World Resort. The earthquake occurred at 2pm sharp, and the tremors were felt in Central Florida just about a minute or so later.

The following attractions are listed as being temporarily unavailable just minutes after the earthquake was felt:

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • The Barnstormer
  • Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
  • TRON Lightcycle Run
  • Space Mountain
  • Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Other attractions were already closed before the earthquake was felt. It’s unclear if the current closures listed above are due to the earthquake or not.

Shaking could be felt at Walt Disney World due to the large earthquake. We have reached out to Disney for further information on any impacts to the resort.
