Will New Spider-Man Roller Coaster Be Named ‘W.E.B. LAUNCHER’ at Shanghai Disney?

|

Construction on Shanghai Disneyland’s Spider-Man roller coaster continues as theming begins to arrive. Lettering is now visible from outside the construction wall, and one of the white support columns carries markings that could be the ride name. The angular characters appear to spell “W.E.B. L4UNCH//R” – or W.E.B. LAUNCHER. Disney has not announced a name, so this remains a theory even though the lettering is obviously part of the design. The styling also fits the W.E.B. branding Disney already uses for Spider-Man across its parks. Here is what the lettering shows, and what we think it suggests.

What the Visible Lettering Suggests About Shanghai’s Spider-Man Coaster

  • What the visible column lettering actually shows
  • Why “W.E.B.” ties the coaster to existing Spider-Man branding
  • How the “L4UNCH//R” styling reads as a launch coaster hint
  • What Disney has and has not confirmed about the attraction

WHAT THE COLUMN LETTERING MAY REVEAL

The marked column sits among the white support uprights along a banked turn for the coaster. Up close, the characters read “W.E.B. L4UNCH//R,” with a number four standing in for the A and a pair of forward slashes before the final R. This is finished theming, not some sort of manufacturer marking. It was designed to be seen as Disney negotiates having exposed roller coaster supports. The deliberate styling, complete with stylized punctuation, reads as a possible name for the roller coaster.

WHY “W.E.B.” POINTS TO SPIDER-MAN

Disney already uses the W.E.B. label across its Spider-Man attractions, most visibly through WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure at Disney California Adventure. The acronym stands for Worldwide Engineering Brigade, the in-universe organization that anchors the Avengers Campus story. Consequently, a coaster carrying “W.E.B.” in its name would slot neatly into the broader Marvel land framing rather than standing apart from it. The branding consistency is the strongest argument that the lettering is intentional. It also suggests Shanghai’s version is being themed into the same narrative.

HOW “L4UNCH//R” FOLLOWS A NAMING CONVENTION

Why do I think the ride will adopt the W.E.B. L4UNCH//R branding as the actual attraction name? Easy. Disney has done this before.

The WEB SLINGERS: A Spider-Man Adventure ride vehicle uses the same naming convention: W.E.B. SL1NG//R. At the very least, we can safely say that the ride vehicle will be called a W.E.B. L4UNCH//R. We believe that will carry over as the attraction name, with some sort of tagline to follow. An example might be WEB LAUNCHER: A Spider-Man Adventure. Or WEB LAUNCHER: A something something adventure (you have to have “adventure” in any new ride name, right?).

WHAT DISNEY HAS CONFIRMED

Disney has not released an official name for the roller coaster as of this writing. The attraction will be part of the resort’s previously announced Spider-Man-themed land, but specifics beyond that remain unconfirmed, if not a bit obvious. Theming still does not confirm a name, so tying “W.E.B. L4UNCH//R” to the finished ride remains a theory.

WHERE CONSTRUCTION STANDS

Multiple cranes are working across the site. The red coaster track is easily visible above the surrounding trees, and white support columns are scattered around the site. Track installation appears to be nearly complete. We will keep watching as more theming arrives and Disney moves toward an official reveal.

EXCITING TIMES AT SHANGHAI DISNEY

The Spider-Man roller coaster is just one of the exciting additions Shanghai Disney has on the horizon. A third hotel is already well underway, with a fourth hotel announced back in November 2025. Where things could get interesting is a rumored second theme park. Shanghai Disney has already surpassed 100 million guests in less than 10 years, and a second theme park could be a perfect addition. Earlier this Spring, we wrote about the rumored second park, and with the 10th anniversary of the resort coming up on June 16th, we’re hopeful that Shanghai Disney announces plans for a new park.
