First Look at Concept Art for Lakeshore Lodge Pool Area & Lazy River

Disney just revealed the pool area and lazy river complex coming to Disney Lakeshore Lodge! The space sits just past the lobby and leans hard into water, play, and views of Bay Lake. Disney is calling it The Wetlands, and it draws its theme from a nature-themed corner of the animated movie catalog. There is also a nod buried in the pathways for longtime fans of this stretch of property. Here’s the latest!

THE POCAHONTAS CONNECTION ANCHORS THE THEME

The Wetlands takes its storytelling cues from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ Pocahontas, specifically the song “Colors of the Wind.” Disney points to the lyric about the heron and the otter as friends, and that line shapes the names and feel of the children’s play spaces. It is a fitting angle for a resort built along Bay Lake.

WHERE KIDS WILL CLIMB AND COOL OFF

Two play areas split the duty between dry and wet. Heron Shores handles the climbing, with imaginative features built for hands-on exploration. Just around the riverbend, Otter Springs adds interactive water elements where younger guests can splash and slide.

The naming follows the Pocahontas theme, with the heron and otter each getting their own zone. Disney is framing these spaces as a way for kids to feel folded into nature’s story rather than feeling like a standard splash pad.

TWO POOLS, AND ONE FACES THE FIREWORKS

Lakeside Lagoon sits at the center of The Wetlands as the resort’s feature pool. It is a zero-entry design, which means a gradual walk-in rather than a hard edge, and it comes with a spiral waterslide that drops riders into the water.

On the opposite side of the resort, Perspective Pond offers a quieter option. This leisure pool and whirlpool spa is positioned for Magic Kingdom fireworks views in the evening. If you want to watch the nightly fireworks show from a pool, this is the spot Disney says you should visit.

A LAZY RIVER AND A FORWARD LOOK AT THE LAYOUT

The Daydream River rounds out the water offerings as the area’s lazy river. The current carries guests through the pool and play area, offering guests a relaxing way to take in the surrounding landscape.

Disney is pitching the river as the bookend to a day here, whether you start with a morning float or end with sunset over Bay Lake. Between the two pools, the lazy river, and the kids’ zones, The Wetlands is shaping up as a full recreation hub rather than a simple pool area.

THE HIDDEN PLAQUE WORTH HUNTING FOR

A scenic path runs through the area with fun facts about the local flora and fauna. Tucked along that walk is a plaque honoring a historic attraction that once stood on this exact spot. That’s right, we’re getting a River Country nod!

WATERFRONT OASIS, COMING SUMMER 2027

The Wetlands sits a boat ride away from Magic Kingdom, and staying on property brings the usual perks like complimentary transportation and extra theme park time. Disney Lakeshore Lodge opens next Summer along the shores of Bay Lake!
