New Siding, Shutters Added to Haunted Mansion Queue Building Addition

New photos reveal some real progress on the building addition behind the former Mike Fink Keel Boat Landing near the Haunted Mansion queue. The structure was a bare metal frame earlier this month. It now has full exterior siding and shuttered windows that match the building it’s attached to. Here’s a closer look!

New Siding and Windows Installed on Haunted Mansion Queue Building Addition

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • The addition now has almost full exterior siding and shutters installed.
  • Crews continue working on new roof framing on top of the structure.
  • The new work continues to build onto the back of the existing Liberty Square facade.

We first spotted this addition under construction in July. At that point, crews had sheathed it only in plywood. That has changed considerably. The building now has yellow clapboard siding that matches the structure it’s attached to. Three arched, louvered shutters line its Piston Peak-facing wall. Each window also has a copper-topped surround above the shutters, but that will likely be hidden once the work is complete. The new trim gives the addition a more finished look that blends with the rest of the building.

Crews also continue work on the roof. Metal framing is visible along the top of the structure. The addition still sits behind Piston Peak National Park construction walls, tucked between the Memento Mori gift shop and the rest of the Liberty Square “waterfront”. Excavators and dirt-moving equipment remain active nearby as broader sitework in the area continues.

Building Addition Continues to Take Shape

The addition sits against the back of an existing Liberty Square facade. That building once served as a Haunted Mansion overflow queue. The new work expands the current structure’s footprint.

This broader work is part of the ongoing Piston Peak National Park construction. That’s the Cars-themed land replacing the former Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island footprint. Disney has billed it as an expansion of Frontierland rather than a standalone themed area. It will be interesting to see what Imagineers have planned for blending Liberty Square into the nearby Piston Peak area.

  1. What’s concerning is that that pale yellow color seems indicative that this is likely Hardie fiber cement siding (not actually wood) as used on the infamously ugly Madame Leota gift shop at Disneyland.
