Under the Sea ~ Journey of The Little Mermaid will close early at Magic Kingdom on Thursday, November 5th. Walt Disney World’s website lists the Fantasyland dark ride closing at 7:00pm that day, three hours before the park itself closes at 10:00pm. Disney has not shared a reason for the shortened hours. A shorter day is coming to one of Fantasyland’s dark rides. The attraction page for Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid shows operating hours of 9:00am to 7:00pm on Thursday, November 5th. Magic Kingdom stays open until 10:00pm, so the clamshells stop boarding while the rest of the park keeps going for three more hours.
Planning Your Day Around the 7pm Close
Guests still get most of a full day with Ariel and friends. The ride opens at 8:30am for Early Theme Park Entry, then stays open from park opening at 9:00am until 7:00pm. Under the Sea has no height requirement, which makes it an easy morning pick for families with little ones before the Fantasyland crowds build.
The change matters most for anyone who saves the ride for after dinner or a late-night trip under the sea. Families heading to Magic Kingdom on November 5th should plan to visit before 7:00pm. Anyone building a Lightning Lane plan for that day should pick an earlier return time for Under the Sea.
A Busy Year of Schedule Changes
This is the second short schedule change for the ride this year. In February, Walt Disney World closed Under the Sea for a single day on February 11th. That closure first appeared on the operational calendar about a week earlier. Disney did not share what work took place that day.
Magic Kingdom guests next week will also plan around Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which closes November 2nd for its first-ever refurbishment. Walt Disney World’s calendar lists the flume ride returning December 18th.
