Disney World Releases “Rain Plan” for Disney Jollywood Nights: Here’s What Changes

Walt Disney World has shared its inclement weather plan for Disney Jollywood Nights, and a little Florida rain won’t send party guests home early. The plan keeps the holiday party going at Disney’s Hollywood Studios through most storms, moving outdoor favorites indoors and even adding late-night entertainment. A couple of the party’s signature shows could still take a hit when thunder rolls in, though.

Disney Jollywood Nights returns to Disney’s Hollywood Studios on Saturday, November 7th, with select party nights through January 5th, 2027. Most of the evening’s entertainment happens outdoors, so the weather plan answers the first question every ticket holder asks when clouds roll in. Disney says the party “will continue in the event of most inclement weather,” and the plan covers rain, thunder, and lightning alike.

For rides, Disney points guests to the attractions map for what’s operating and current wait times. Several Hollywood Studios attractions sit outdoors or partially outdoors. Expect the list of rides open during the party to shift as storms come and go.

The weather plan doesn’t address rain checks or refunds. After storms soaked Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party on October 8th, Disney automatically converted those event tickets into 1-day Park Hopper tickets. Disney has called off Jollywood Nights once before. It canceled the December 16th, 2023 party ahead of forecasted thunderstorms and refunded tickets. Those were case-by-case decisions, so there’s no guarantee the same steps would follow a soggy night this season.

Glisten! May Pause, but a Midnight Show Joins the Lineup

Outdoor entertainment takes the biggest hit when bad weather moves through. Disney may cancel some or all performances of “Glisten!,” the holiday skating show in front of the Chinese Theater. The same goes for Twilight Soirรฉe at the Tip Top Club, the 1930s-style swing party in the courtyard of the Hollywood Tower Hotel.

Disney is adding to the schedule to make up for it. Midnight showings of Disney Holidays in Hollywood join the lineup on rainy nights. The Kermit and Miss Piggy-hosted stage show plays at Theater of the Stars, and the party wraps up at 12:30am. Extra event characters will also appear inside The Magic of Disney Animation.

Here’s where the rest of the entertainment stands:

  • What’s This? Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas Sing-Along continues as regularly scheduled.
  • Sunset Seasons Greetings and Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM! may still be offered.

The sing-along staying put makes sense, since it plays indoors at the Hyperion Theater. Both Sunset Seasons Greetings and Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM come with a softer promise and may still be offered during inclement weather, so check showtimes in the My Disney Experience app before staking out a spot.

Where Characters Head When the Rain Starts

Character meets get the most detailed plan. During inclement weather, Disney moves outdoor character experiences to these indoor locations:

  • Inside Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular: Chip ‘n’ Dale from Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers, Baloo or King Louie from TaleSpin, Max as Powerline, and Phineas and Ferb
  • Inside ABC Commissary: Josรฉ Carioca or Panchito from The Three Caballeros
  • Near First Order Cargo: The Mandalorian and Grogu
  • Near Toy Story Mania!: Bo Peep and Sarge
  • Near Roundup Rodeo BBQ: Partysaurus Rex
  • Throughout Pixar Plaza: Bing Bong, Joy, Sadness, Mike Wazowski, George Sanderson, and Needleman
  • At The Edna Mode Experience: Edna Mode and Frozone
  • Inside The Magic of Disney Animation: Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Donald Duck, Daisy Duck, Goofy, and Pluto

The Magic of Disney Animation becomes the home base for the classic crew. Mickey and all five of his friends meet there under one roof. For families who planned the night around them, a rainy evening could make that meet easier to find.

Four characters keep their regular party locations even when the weather turns:

  • Near Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run: Chewbacca
  • At Celebrity Spotlight: Stitch dressed as Santa
  • Near BaseLine Tap House: Scrooge McDuck
  • At Walt Disney Presents: Duffy dressed as Santa

Disney also says select dining locations stay open during inclement weather, so holiday snacks and festive drinks remain on the table while a storm passes. Shops offer another dry option for picking up gifts and party souvenirs.
