PHOTOS: Aerial Overview Shows Black Spire Outpost Taking Shape at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Our friends at Nearmap are back again with an aerial update of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. The following photos are from their May 2018 flyover.

The only official map we’ve seen from Disney on the new land came in the form of trading cards from the Galactic Nights event this past weekend. For comparison, we’ve added a flipped version of the above image so elements line up with the map below.

Let’s crop into some of the specific areas.

Millennium Falcon Attraction

Seen below is the Millennium Falcon attraction. It’s here that guests will be able to pilot the iconic ship with their friends. For a behind-the-scenes look at the current testing of the attraction, check out our post with the video. From the ground, we were able to see inside the building and some of the projection cones that will bring the experience to life. Notice the convex shape at the top of the building. This area is where the Millennium Falcon will sit, surrounded by the newly named black spires that give the area its name.

First Order Battle Escape Attraction

By all accounts, the First Order Battle Escape attraction will be one of the most ambitious projects to date. From two full-size AT-AT walkers, to a trackless ride vehicle, extensive queue, and massive show-scenes, this attraction will provide guests with a unique battle against the intimidating First Order.

Shops, Eateries, and More

In the middle of the Black Spire Outpost will be a variety of shops, eateries, and other experiences.

Entrances

There will be two entrances to the new 14-acre land. One will be from Grand Avenue, and the other will be from Toy Story Land. Here are aerial photos of each of the entrances, respectively.

Here’s a look at the Grand Avenue entrance.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in late-Fall 2019. For more concept art and an extended talk about Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, check out our coverage of Star Wars Celebration. We’d like to thank Nearmap for providing the aerial imagery.
