It doesn’t matter if you fight with the Resistance or support the First Order, you’ll soon be getting your photo taken with an automated camera either way. Disney has expanded the automated camera concept from just being at the Tinker Bell meet and greet at Magic Kingdom to the Star Wars Launch Bay. After we spotted the Hollywood Studios 30th Anniversary signs and DJ at Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy, we decided to stop in to meet Kylo Ren and Chewbacca at the Star Wars Launch Bay. Here’s what we found.
Both of the meet and greets have had the automated camera boxes installed for a little while now, but Disney has just recently installed the automated cameras themselves. Here’s a look at the setup for the Kylo Ren meet and greet.
A closer look reveals a Nikon camera in the housing and a 35mm lens in use. We were told that random testing has begun, although we were happy to see that an actual Disney PhotoPass photographer was present for our interaction this morning.
Over at the Chewbacca meet and greet, just the box is installed.
Cast Members at the location said that the automated cameras would only be used for the Kylo Ren and Chewbacca meet and greets, not BB-8.
