Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar review

Yesterday marked the opening of Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar in Disney Springs. Disney Springs, formerly Downtown Disney, is currently going through a massive construction phase where new dining, shopping, and entertainment offerings are being built.

    Jock Lindsey

Jock Lindsey was the pilot for Indiana Jones in the Raiders of the Lost Ark. While searching for the Fountain of Youth, Jock and Indy found a little town called Disney Springs. Jock settled down and eventually turned his seaplane hangar into the establishment it is today.

    The menu

Offerings at Jock Lindsey’s include appetizers and drinks inspired from the many corners of the globe that Jock has adventured to. The drinks we tried included the ‘Anything goes’, ‘Cool-headed Monkey’, and ‘Reggie’s Revenge’. Click for larger images.

While we found that the drinks weren’t as strong as say, Trader Sam’s, we did find them refreshing. I will say that the alcohol was present, but not overbearing, and would order all three again.

Moving on to the appetizers. We had the ‘Air Pirate’s Pretzels’, ‘Good Dates’, ‘Rolling Boulder Sliders’, and ‘Brody’s Brats’. Click for larger images.

The pretzels themselves were better than other pretzels we’ve had on property. The in-house mustard was good with a kick at the end, but I think the fondue beer cheese was the better of the two with this appetizer.  The sauces were good, but better sauces do exist on property. The ‘Good Dates’ were delicious. They’re stuffed with a creamy goat cheese that really pairs nicely with the dates themselves. We also found that the roasted almonds that come with the dates were packed with flavor. I found myself trying to pile as many almonds as I could onto a date. The ‘Rolling Boulder Sliders’ were my personal favorite. When you think sliders, you think burgers, but these were made with large meatballs and they were delicious! Not only did the meatballs have a flavor that was complimented by the yogurt sauce, but they were the most filling sliders I’ve ever had. Rounding out our appetizers were ‘Brody’s Brats’. These were ok. Nothing daring or out of the ordinary here. We actually preferred the mustard that came with the pretzels over the mustard that came with the brats.

    Theming

The theming of the lounge is as good as we’ve come to expect from Disney Imagineering. It is the most highly themed area of Disney Springs to open so far and will probably draw comparisons with Trader Sam’s at Disney’s Polynesian Resort.

    Details

There are so many little details and artifacts that Jock and Indy have collected over the years. Even some props from the movies! Click on the photos for a full screen gallery.

    Patio

Most of the seating is actually on a patio and boat outside. We sat on the patio and actually had wonderful views of the lake and surrounding areas. I hope Disney considers a roll-down vinyl screen of some sort as most of their seating could be lost when storms roll through.

    Overview

Overall, we really enjoyed Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar and will be back multiple times. The menu is reasonably priced and the centralized location can’t be beat. There is even a boat launch directly to the left of the building that connects guests to area resorts and other parts of Disney Springs. If you’re looking for a relaxing place to grab a drink and a quick bite to eat during your time at Disney Springs, Jock Lindsey’s Hangar Bar is a must do!
