As we continue to keep an eye on the Disney Park Pass reservation system availability, we noticed that the only theme park left for Annual Passholders to make a reservation for in August is EPCOT.
With more than 3 weeks until the end of the month, Magic Kingdom, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and Disney’s Hollywood Studios are sold out of theme park reservations for Annual Passholders. While Disney has noted a lower demand than what they predicted in terms of attendance from Resort Guests and regular ticket holders, Annual Passholders have been quick to grab whatever reservations they can.
Disney has been slow to release more availability to Annual Passholders in the month of August, but still relies on the ticket type to keep the resort afloat. Disney World typically flourishes when out-of-state visitors make up the vast majority of guests, but right now the resort is surviving with about 50% of the guests visiting from local markets.
Of course, Disney CEO Bob Chapek noted in the third quarter earnings call that Annual Passholders were less profitable for the company than other ticket types. That said, Disney execs noted that guest spending was “very, very strong” due to the fact that guests haven’t been able to visit the theme parks in months.

Considering the 40% rise in cost for what used to be just platinum (told its no longer available) to platinum plus, is it worth the annual pass when you can’t go to the different parks – even as a FL resident? Looked at the Gold pass, but it has blackout dates I including Christmastime.
From Michigan, with all of the restrictions, limitations, closures, discontinuation and shortening of access hours, we cancelled annual passes we have carried for 7 years. Four cancelled Vacations in 6 months was disheartening. Maybe 2022 will be better.
Cancelled ours parks are sold out but they still take their money every month. Sounds like stealing to me.
Being Gold passholders for years last time we were there was February. WE ARE ONLY ALLOWED 9 VISITS FROM Aug 29 til Dec 12. They are catering specifically to tourists in the resorts and VACATION CLUB MEMBERS. we pay a lot of money in full to go any time we want but we are getting screwed on this system
