Two Splash Mountain Songs Continue to Play at Magic Kingdom Despite Removal from Disneyland

Guests visiting Magic Kingdom this morning are still able to hear two Splash Mountain songs at the main entrance to the theme park despite the intellectual property being removed from the Disneyland Resort playlist some time ago. Disney recently released a statement about the removal of Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah from the Disneyland Resort playlist and references to the problematic Song of the South movie from their website.

The removal of the song from Downtown Disney’s background music is part of a continuous process to deliver an environment that features stories that are relevant and inclusive.

Despite the removal of the song from the Disneyland Resort music loop, both Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah and Ev’ry Body Has a Laughing Place continue to play at Magic Kingdom. Both songs can be heard in the Splash Mountain attraction, which continues to operate at Magic Kingdom as well. Here’s a listen to a segment of Ev’rybody Has a Laughing Place and the full Zip-a-Dee-Doo-Dah songs that can be heard outside of Magic Kingdom today.

Disney has not made a statement regarding their intentions for the Magic Kingdom entrance loop, but given their previous statement about the removal at Disneyland, it’s likely they don’t believe that the songs should be played at Walt Disney World either.

Disney previously announced that Splash Mountain at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World would be getting rethemed to a Princess and the Frog-themed attraction, but hasn’t given a timeline for the project. Disney said that they began working on the retheme over a year ago.
