According to dvcnews.com, Disney Vacation Club (DVC) has increased the minimum required points to qualify for membership extras such as Moonlight Magic, member lounges, or discounted Annual Passes. Here is the updated wording on the DVC website:

Effective October 19, 2020, to obtain a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card, Members must accumulate a total of at least 125 Vacation Points purchased directly from Disney Vacation Development, Inc.

The points minimum comes just over a year since the previous bump. Existing members will be grandfathered in.

  1. As a DVC owner for some 20 years, no one should even consider purchasing DVC contract at this time. DVC ownership has lost significant value due to the COVID-19 virus and the impact on Disney park operations. Several major benefits of DVC ownership have been taken away, and all one is getting with a DVC contract purchase is a very expensive hotel room and a 50 year purchase contract. My recomendation is to wait until park operations are back to normal and the added value benefits of DVC ownership are restored.

  2. Great advice! It was a very different experience at our last stay in Sept./Oct. Honestly I personally enjoyed the less crowded feel, but so much “magic” was missing. We won’t be making another trip if masks, social distancing, and closures are still in place.
