Orange County Florida Ends Outdoor Face Mask Mandate

Orange County Mayor Jerry Demings has just announced that the county will be rescinding the mandate that requires residents to wear a face mask outdoors.

Orange County met Phase 2 of their phased return to normal plan by having at least 50% of residents 16 and older receive at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

    Phase 2

We’re currently in Phase 2, which means that 50% of the county’s population 16 years or older has received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

In phase 2, face coverings will no longer be mandated for outdoor areas – regardless of a person’s vaccination status. Facial coverings will still be required in indoor spaces except while eating or drinking.

    Phase 3

Phase 3 will begin when 70% of the county’s population 16 years or older has received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, AND the 14-day rolling positivity rate is 5% or lower.

Once Orange County is in phase 3, all mandates will be lifted. It is possible that the county could bounce between phase 2 and phase 3 depending on the 14-rolling positivity rate.
