New Utilities, Structures Rising for Busy Moana Journey of Water Construction Site at EPCOT

Disney continues to a steady pace for the upcoming Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana attraction at EPCOT. The construction site, which sits along the walkway that takes guests from the park entrance towards The Seas with Nemo and Friends, is in a corner of World Celebration that butts up to Spaceship Earth. Of course, when the rebar settles, we anticipate that the Journey of Water attraction will be classified as a World Nature attraction given its strong ties to nature and the natural cycle of water.

Either way, we take to the highway in the sky for an elevated look at what is turning into an interesting space to watch. We’ll make our way across the construction site from right to left (south to north).

On the southern end of the construction site is the largest above-ground structure built to date. A low wall has some black material on it now, but we want to draw your attention to the structure on the right of the image and some interesting forms staged on the ground.

An area between the structure above and the one that we’ll look at next already contains some buried pipes with only the ends sticking above replaced dirt.

Continuing through the site, another low wall has a maze of conduits.

We’ll zoom out a bit to redirect our attention back towards a maze of rebar before continuing on to a highway of pipes.

We start at the rebar and an interestingly shaped form.

We’ll take a look at the newly installed highway of pipe that runs east to west across most of the width of the project.

Another interesting development can be seen at the “back” of the construction site, seen in the upper right of the photo immediately above. As you can see in the photo below, another low wall is taking shape, but perhaps most interesting is the series of over a dozen structural support anchors.

When completed, Journey of Water – Inspired by Moana will be a walkthrough experience where the magic of water will come alive around guests.
