Work has begun to clear land at the back of Blizzard Beach water park for a mysterious project. Blizzard Beach remains closed to guests with no known re-opening date, but Disney is getting ready to kick off a project at the back of the park that we’ve been tracking since we spotted height test balloons back in November 2021.
The land clearing, which you can see in our photos below, is to make way for the installation of a tower crane for an unannounced project. The permit is concerned with creating a laydown area and a new access road. The project’s scope beyond this type of site prep work is unknown. It’s possible that a new attraction could be on the way, or that Disney needs the crane to replace existing slides. It looks like there could be up to two additional support cranes or two additional tower crane locations.
We first reported on a permit that detailed the land clearing and crane installation back in April.
Here’s a look at the land clearing.
