Tropical Storm Watch In Effect for Disney World, Rainfall Expected This Weekend

A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Osceola County, one of two counties that house Walt Disney World property. The watch, which was sent out by the National Weather Service, is issued ahead of what is expected to be a rainy weekend at Walt Disney World as a Tropical Storm is expected to form in the southern Gulf of Mexico in the next day or so.

A Tropical Storm Watch means that Tropical Storm conditions of sustained winds of 39-73 MPH are possible within 48 hours.

The storm system is currently being called Potential Tropical Cyclone One by the National Hurricane Center (NHC). The Weather Channel is calling for up to 1-3″ of rain in Central Florida with the storm and the heaviest impact is currently expected to be felt on Saturday, June 4th.

As of publish time, Disney World has not issued any weather advisories, but we will continue to monitor the storm and any impacts it might have on Walt Disney World. As of right now, you can expect rain this weekend and most models have the storm passing south of the Walt Disney World area.
