Following up on a story that we started tracking last month, more repairs have been made to the Swotu Waya drum circle in Pandora – The World of Avatar. The drum circle effects remain deactivated as the work slowly continues. It’s unknown if the repairs will eventually lead to the return of the Swotu Waya show that was replaced by the Discovery Island Drummers. It’s possible that the Discovery Island Drummers flotilla ends and the Pandora drummers return, but Disney hasn’t made any official announcement.

Interestingly, Disney CEO Bob Iger has announced that an “Avatar experience” was coming to Disneyland in a recent earnings call. In the same call, Iger pointed to Pandora – The World of Avatar as being a success story at the theme parks. That said, there is still quite a bit of missing entertainment in the land. In the past, Pandora felt alive with entertainment from both the Swotu Waya drummers and the Pandora Utility Suit character. Since their removal, the land certainly feels less alive. Pandora – The World of Avatar, and more specifically Avatar Flight of Passage, remains the top draw for Disney’s Animal Kingdom and one of the most popular attractions at all of Walt Disney World.

Back to our recent visit to Animal Kingdom, here’s a look at the ongoing repair work for the Pandora drum circle.

The new material appears to be much different than the faux leather of the past. Here’s a closer look at the material, which appears to be a resin.

There are also some shells on the drum circle set that have certainly seen much better days.

It’s a bit unfortunate to have the entertainment aspects missing from the land, especially when Avatar: The Way of Water has surpassed $2.2 billion worldwide.
