The Grand Avenue mystery project is starting to come into focus a bit with the start of vertical construction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. While visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently, we noticed that there was some vertical construction underway on the mystery project that popped up in early June. For the past few weeks, work has been focused on demolishing some of the existing planters and walls in the area, but now there is new construction underway.
We first noticed some black steel columns above the construction walls and decided to get a closer look.
Taking a peek at the site, we can see new construction on what could be a more permanent kiosk.
There is quite a bit of conduit here, but Disney has not made any official statements as to what they are building. Nearby, there is a churro stand and a gelato cart. There is also a DVC kiosk, so cross that off the list of the most likely reason for Disney to build anything new at Hollywood Studios. Across the street from this construction is the popular Baseline Tap House. We were really hoping for a small park with ample shade and seating for when Baseline fills up, but that looks unlikely at this point.
We’ll continue to keep an eye on the work as it continues in the coming weeks and (hopefully not) months.
