Lightning Lane Premier Pass, Walt Disney World’s ultimate skip-the-line pass, is beginning to sell out for the first time since it was introduced. The first sold-out dates are for Thanksgiving Week, which is historically a busy time at the Walt Disney World theme parks. Because the Premier Pass is park-specific, only select theme parks have begun to sell out. Here’s a look at the latest info.
Lightning Lane Premier Pass Sells Out for Thanksgiving Week
Premier Pass, which allows guests to skip the line at all eligible attractions in a single theme park, first debuted on October 30th and hasn’t sold out, until now. According to Walt Disney World, Lightning Lane Premier Pass is currently sold out for the following dates and theme parks:
Magic Kingdom
- Nov. 25 ($379 per person)
- Nov. 26 ($399 per person)
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
- Nov. 25 ($309 per person)
It’s likely that we see another date or two from both parks soon, with more sold-out dates likely during Christmas Week, which is the busiest time of the year at Walt Disney World.
Lightning Lane Premier Pass is certainly a premium product that isn’t for everyone, and the value proposition is usually extremely unbalanced when compared to a good touring strategy and Lightning Lane Multi Pass, but it will prove to be most useful during the busiest times of the year.
What we typically see is a massive reduction in the number of Lightning Lane attractions that a guest can enjoy using Multi Pass as crowds increase. Because Multi Pass requires you to book a return window for each attraction that you want to skip-the-line at, attractions can run out of return times. During the busiest times of year, those return times disappear quickly and the usefulness of Multi Pass disappears quickly too.
With Lightning Lane Premier Pass, you do not have to book return windows, and attractions can not “sell out” during the day. Without the need to worry about return windows selling out, Premier Pass guests can have a worry-free day skipping the lines even during the busiest times of the year.
Of course, you will pay handsomely for that privilege, with per-park, per-day pricing climbing north of $400 for Magic Kingdom. Standby lines remain available to guests.
