Following the conclusion of the 2024 EPCOT International Festival of the Holidays, CommuniCore Hall is now closed. The flexible Festival space could finally move past growing pains during its first year of operation when the 2025 EPCOT International Festival of the Arts opens this month. The venue is closed to support the installation of a Disney on Broadway exhibit, which will likely be the best utilization of the space yet.
CommuniCore Hall Closed for Disney on Broadway Exhibit
Here’s a look at concept art released by Walt Disney World of the planned Disney on Broadway exhibit. As you can see, a drop curtain will separate the space in the exhibit space and likely a merchandise and/or food space.
The concept art above is the closest that we’ve seen Disney get to the original concept art for the CommuniCore Hall space, which showed an expansive exhibit area. The concept art below shows Disney’s original vision for the flex space. In theory, extensive seasonal exhibits would’ve filled the space. What we’ve seen so far has fallen well below the already budget-cut version of the Festival Center.
Of course, the worst version of the space is when there is no Festival at all. We’re not fans of CommuniCore Hall, but I do want to see continuing improvements to the space. Hopefully, Walt Disney World can also find a solution for the space when there isn’t a Festival.
