Drawers, Floors, Doors…New Walls! Encanto Attraction Interior Begins Taking Shape at Disney’s Animal Kingdom

|

Good afternoon from Disney’s Animal Kingdom, where it’s a windy, cold day, but that’s not stopping crews from making some excellent progress on an all-new Encanto-themed attraction. The attraction will be one of three rides in an all-new Tropical Americas-themed land when it opens to guests in 2027. It’s been a few weeks since we’ve checked in on the ride, and there’s some exciting new progress to see. Let’s go!

Interior Walls Take Shape for Encanto Attraction at Animal Kingdom

Our previous update on the Encanto attraction came via aerial photos of the construction site. In that update, we saw the rapid progress that crews had made in just a couple of weeks of work. Now, we’re back, but this time from the ground to get an in-park look at the latest work. And there’s some exciting progress!

As you will see in our photos below, interior work has begun as the actual scenes of the attraction begin to take shape. We’ll start with a look at the work from the walkways around DinoLand USA, and then we’ll have a very unique view of the construction site from a nearby Forbidden Mountain.

We’ll start with a view that everyone walking over the DinoLand USA bridge from Discovery Island gets. It’s been pretty cool to watch the construction from this area, and I hope that this walkway along the exterior of DinoLand USA remains open even after the land closes to guests in just a few weeks.

It’s here that we get our first glimpse of the interior construction. For weeks, we’ve been used to seeing a lot of rust-colored steel being lifted into place. Now, there are some silver vertical pieces of steel that have caught our eye.

As we continue to walk toward the DINOSAUR attraction, we get peeks of the construction just past the green construction walls.

These pieces of vertical steel are interesting. As much as they seem to be walls, they also seemingly function as catwalks – perhaps similar to the way that the Na’vi River Journey attraction appears to be built. That is, sets and theming that fully engulf you, including over your head. We’ll soon see that they are much more robust than simply being interior walls.

In fact, we need to get a different vantage point to really begin to see what’s going on here. Our friend Bioreconstruct has, effectively, an aerial photo monopoly on theme park photography given his experience and eye for detail. Therefore, we’re not going to get in a helicopter to better visualize the new construction. Instead, we’ve found a brief gap in the themed Expedition Everest Forbidden Mountain that gives us a look past the Finding Nemo theater, and into the Encanto construction site.

It’s a very brief glimpse, but here’s what we saw!

As you’ll see in our photos below, the new interior steel appears to be for a catwalk-style purpose, but it is very intentionally installed, perhaps giving us some insight as to how this particular scene will be shaped.
