Disney World Begins Rollout of Visual & Functional Updates to Website

|

|

Walt Disney World’s website has a noticeably different look this morning. The biggest change that we’ve noticed is an updated navigation bar, along with its “Parks” and “My Plans” dropdown menus, which are now more condensed across DisneyWorld.com. A simplified hero section sits beneath that navigation bar, but only on the homepage. Pages beyond the homepage still reflect the prior visual design as of right now. We compared the current navigation and homepage to earlier versions to see what changed. The update appears to be the first visible piece of a planning experience overhaul Disney previewed to media back in June.

Disney World Begins Rollout of Website Updates

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • The navigation bar is now condensed and appears this way across the site, while pages beyond the homepage otherwise still look the same
  • The homepage layout has also been simplified, with the booking widget now sitting below the hero image instead of overlaying it
  • The changes line up with a website overhaul Disney previewed to media in June

A More Condensed Navigation Bar

The biggest change sits at the very top of the page, and the new navigation bar appears across DisneyWorld.com, not just on the homepage. A slim utility bar used to sit above the main navigation. It carried:

  • A link to Disney.com
  • An account welcome message and sign-out link
  • A country and language selector
  • A search bar

That utility bar is gone now. In its place is a single navigation bar with the Walt Disney World wordmark, plus links for Parks, Tickets & Passes, Places to Stay, and Dining. My Plans, a cart icon, and a search icon round it out. This condensed bar now greets guests site-wide, on interior park, resort, and dining pages alike. Those interior pages haven’t otherwise changed their look or layout.

Structure carries through to the “Parks” dropdown menu too. It’s now split into three columns:

  • Explore Our Parks: Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Disney Water Parks, and Park Hours & Schedules
  • Things to Do: Attractions & Entertainment, Character Experiences, Events & Tours, and Shops, with a More to Explore section below for Disney Springs and Latest Park Merchandise
  • A third column of promotional image cards, currently highlighting Cool Kids’ Summer and Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party

Selecting “My Plans” brings the same organized approach. The dropdown groups into sections:

  • Theme Park Reservations and Make a Reservation at the top
  • Annual Passholders, covering Perks & Discounts and a Blockout Calendar
  • My Profile, covering Account Settings & Preferences, MagicBands, and Notifications
  • My Photos, linking to the Photo Gallery
  • Sign Out at the bottom

Homepage Hero Gets a Simplified Look

The homepage carries an additional change beyond the navigation bar. A “Build Your Vacation” module used to stay pinned above the hero image at all times. It included visible date pickers, adult and child counters, and a green “View Rates” button. Two pill-shaped buttons for tickets and resort hotels sat below the text.

None of that sits over the image anymore. Booking now happens through a module below the hero image, with tabs for Hotels & Packages and Tickets & Passes. A short “Pro tip” line about booking a room-and-ticket package sits underneath. Less competes for attention at the top of the page. The booking flow now reads like its own step, not something layered over a photo.

Story So Far

  • On June 1st, Disney announced a new planning experience coming to DisneyWorld.com, built around flexible date-range search, side-by-side resort comparison, AI-generated resort summaries, and a pricing and availability calendar.
  • Disney said the new website experience would roll out iteratively over the coming months, with Walt Disney World receiving the updates first and no specific launch dates announced.

None of the four specific features Disney previewed in June, flexible date search, resort comparison, AI-generated summaries, or the pricing calendar, appear to be live yet. Pages beyond the homepage still carry the prior visual design. We’ll keep watching as more of the site and My Disney Experience app receive updates.
