Which Disney World Theme Parks Have 5G Coverage?

With the recent launch of the new iPhone 12, more people will be on 5G networks than ever before. While 5G has been around for a little while now, the inclusion of the technology in the latest iPhone pushes the world closer towards the higher speeds and other improvements promised by 5G. In this article, we’re going to look at the major phone carrier coverage maps to determine which Disney World theme parks have 5G coverage.

    AT&T 5G Disney World Coverage

We’ll start with AT&T. Their coverage map has two different colors to represent 4G LTE (dark blue) and 5G (aqua). As with all carriers, we’ll present two maps – one of Magic Kingdom and one of Disney’s Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

    Magic Kingdom

As you can see in the coverage map below, AT&T claims that all of Magic Kingdom falls within their 5G coverage. The coverage also appears to extend to all Magic Kingdom area resorts with the only exception being some 4G LTE coverage in the DVC wing parking lot at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort.

Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The next coverage map will cover the remaining three Disney World theme parks. As you can see below, the majority of EPCOT and all of Disney’s Animal Kingdom falls within the 5G coverage map. Disney’s Hollywood Studios has no current 5G coverage from AT&T according to their coverage map.

    Verizon 5G Disney World Coverage

Next up is Verizon. Their coverage map has two different colors – red for 5G and an orange for 4G LTE. Verizon also has a technology platform called 5G Ultra Wideband, but that is not present anywhere on Disney World property so when we talk about 5G, it’s their “5G Nationwide” which includes the caveat that it “includes 4G LTE coverage”. That is a bit confusing to say the least, but it’s how they chose to label their map. Again, red is 5G (*including 4G LTE coverage) and orange is 4G LTE only.

    Magic Kingdom

Like AT&T, Verizon shows all of Magic Kingdom and area resorts under their 5G umbrella.

Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom

Using the same map layout for the remaining three theme parks we can see an inverse of the AT&T coverage. Unlike AT&T, Verizon does not cover the majority of EPCOT or any of Disney’s Animal Kingdom with 5G. The majority of Disney’s Hollywood Studios also appears to be under 4G LTE coverage and not 5G.

    T-Mobile 5G Disney World Coverage

Finally, we’ve arrived at T-Mobile. Their map represents 5G coverage in a light magenta color, whereas the 4G LTE coverage is a dark purple.

    Magic Kingdom

These coverage maps won’t end up being very favorable to T-Mobile customers. As you can see, the 5G light magenta appears to be everywhere but Magic Kingdom or the area resorts. It looks like the coverage might be available on the extreme northern edge of Magic Kingdom, but not widespread enough to be useful.

Hollywood Studios, EPCOT, Disney’s Animal Kingdom

The story doesn’t get any better for T-Mobile customers as we look at the remaining three parks. All of EPCOT and all of Disney’s Hollywood Studios still have no 5G coverage. There might be some coverage at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but just like Magic Kingdom, nothing to write home about. It does look like Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort is bathed in 5G, but nothing at any of the four Walt Disney World theme parks.

All told, AT&T appears to be the winner here for both coverage and clarity of mapping. Verizon lost a point with us for fusing their 5G and 4G LTE mapping together, which they said they do because they work on the same spectrum. Either way, the AT&T coverage map shows more Walt Disney World theme parks are currently covered by AT&T 5G than any other carrier.

Taking a step back, does it even matter? According to a coverage map by RootMetrics, none of the major carriers were able to register any real-life, consistent 5G in the Walt Disney World theme parks. 5G still appears to have a negligible impact on your Walt Disney World vacation at the moment, but we have seen cellular network installation permits that hopefully point to a continued investment in faster speeds to help you get a Rise of the Resistance Boarding Group quicker!
