The Disney World website page for Splash Mountain no longer lists the attraction as under refurbishment, but there is something else missing as well – an acknowledgment that the ride will be transformed into a Princess and the Frog-themed attraction.
Here’s a look at the website during the recent refurbishment:
Previously, the Walt Disney World website included a blurb that mentioned the refresh. The text in red used to read “An exciting new refresh is coming to this attraction. Read more” with a link to the Princess and the Frog retheme announcement.
Now, the Disney World Splash Mountain webpage has no references to the pending reimagining of the ride.
It’s likely that Disney simply forgot to add the blurb back to the website following the refurbishment message and that once they become aware of the error, it will be corrected. A reference to the retheme remains available in the My Disney Experience app.
Splash Mountain will eventually close permanently as an attraction themed to Disney’s controversial Song of the South movie, and be rethemed to a Princess and the Frog attraction. Despite Disney’s original claims that a Princess and the Frog ride has been in the works since 2019, Magic Kingdom’s Vice President more recently said that the redesign is “going to take us a bit of time”.
