Following our article yesterday noting the absence of Park Hopping hours in the My Disney Experience app, Disney has reinstated the hours today.
Here’s a look at a before/after the hours were reinstated in the app.

Ever since park hopping returned in January 2021, Disney World has imposed park hopping restrictions on their guests. Most notably, guests are not allowed to park hop to another park until 2pm. At first, it was communicated that this restriction was put in place to allow Disney to “continue managing attendance in a way that fosters physical distancing”. Now, the practice serves no practical purpose to benefit a paying guest.

Park Hopper hours are not beneficial to the paying customer per se. But without it, then the park reservation system is useless. If I can’t get into MK because the reservation system says its full, I register for Epcot and then as soon as the park opens I head into Epcot, then transfer to MK. MK won’t be full because most guests haven’t arrived yet.
Having a 2pm park hopper allows the guests registered for the park to visit with “lower” crowd levels, and later in the afternoon after some guests have left, allow their spots to be filled with Hopper guests. So indirectly the 2pm timeline allows for the reservation system to serve its purpose and spread out guests across all parks to allow for a better experience. However, annoying that may be.
