Walt Disney World has filed a new permit for “confidential facility improvements”, including a new 5,500 sqft building at The Meadows recreation area in Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort. The new building would be built to the southeast of the existing Meadow Swimmin’ Pool, and south of the tennis courts. As part of the project, the existing playground, sand volleyball courts, and disc golf would be removed from the area.
First, here’s an overview of the project area. The new building will be built along the grassy area to the south of the tennis courts. A new dry pond will also be built in the area.
Here’s a look at a screenshot of the permit, along with an overlay of the permit against a Google Maps overview of the area. As you can see in the permit below, in addition to the building, there will be “hardscape” in the area. Of course, it’s likely that the finished product will not be pure concrete, but rather a rocky area or something similar to keep with the design of Fort Wilderness. Disney World has yet to announce the details of the project.
Of course, the big project currently underway is the Disney Vacation Club cabin installation. Dozens of cabins have been installed already, and we went out to Fort Wilderness earlier today to take a look at the latest progress.

Lift station? Very interesting. What could that even mean? Elevators?
That’s usually related to water management
Ft Wilderness has slowly been destroyed over the years. No longer wilderness and barely a campground. Sad. It used to be my happy place e.
