Shanghai Disney Announces “Real Name Ticketing Policy” to Combat Illegal Ticket Schemes, Protect Resort Reputation

Shanghai Disneyland has announced that it will launch a new “real name ticket policy” this year. The new policy is designed to combat illegal ticket schemes, and it’s in alignment with government efforts to crack down on illegal commercial activities. Shanghai Disneyland says that they’re actively engaged with relevant government authorities to crack down on illegal commercial activities that bring “significant damage to the resort’s reputation, business, and normal operations”. Here’s the announcement from the resort:

Shanghai Disney Resort to Launch Real Name Ticketing Policy Prior to Yearend

At Shanghai Disney Resort, we continue to explore new opportunities to further enhance the guest experience by leveraging innovative technologies. As part of our commitment to enhance guest experience and in support of government efforts to crackdown on illegal commercial activities, Shanghai Disney Resort will adopt a new real name ticketing policy, targeting to be launched prior to yearend. The exact date will be communicated closer to the effective date. Once effective, each guest will be required to use their own government ID to book their own ticket, and one valid government ID can only be used to purchase one ticket on the same date of visit.

  • When purchasing a ticket, each guest is required to provide the number of their valid government ID (for the acceptable government ID, please refer to the detailed instruction on the ticket purchase pages when purchasing park tickets);
  • When entering Shanghai Disneyland, each guest must bring the original physical copy of the valid government ID used at the time of ticket purchase.

The new real name ticketing policy will apply to all guests, including those who are eligible for special tickets such as children, senior guests and guests with disabilities (valid certificate or proof of disability required, please refer to ticket purchase pages for detailed requirements). To support the process of government ID verification for children, age will be the only criteria for Shanghai Disneyland’s child ticket policy once the new real name ticketing policy is introduced prior to yearend:

  • Children aged 3 to 11 years old, both inclusive, on the day of their visit are eligible for purchasing child ticket
  • Children under the age of 3 years old on the day of their visit will receive free park admission

For Mainland China children guests who have not yet obtained a PRC Resident ID Card, please continue to use acceptable ID Certificate (with both the ID number and photo) for purchasing a ticket and entering the park. According to the Shanghai Disneyland Rules and Regulations, guests under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a guest aged 16 years old or older to enter the park.

The aforementioned real name policy is also applicable to guests purchasing Shanghai Disneyland Annual Pass. Once effective, each guest will be required to use their own government ID to purchase their own Annual Pass, and one valid government ID can only be used to purchase one Annual Pass.

The official launch date and the detailed ticket purchase guidance will be shared closer to the new policy effective date. Guests who purchase Shanghai Disneyland tickets or Annual Passes before the official launch date will not be affected.

The introduction of the new policy stays true to Shanghai Disney Resort’s commitment in further enhancing guest experience and is consistent with other destinations across China. It’s also part of the resort’s ongoing efforts to work closely with relevant government authorities to crackdown on illegal commercial activities that bring significant damage to the resort’s reputation, business, and normal operations.

To protect guest rights, we remind all guests to only purchase Shanghai Disney Resort products and services via official and authorized channels. Products and services purchased via any other channels are non-official, unauthorized, and highly likely fake or fraudulent, which may therefore lead to guests at their own risk and responsibility of financial loss.
