Imagineering Permit Suggests New Marquee Coming to Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom

|

A new permit filed by Walt Disney Imagineering suggests that a new marquee is on the way for Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin at Magic Kingdom. The shooting gallery attraction has been closed since August 2025, and it will reopen this Spring, feeling like a familiar, but substantially new attraction. In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the permit and the changes on the way for the Tomorrowland attraction.

Walt Disney Imagineering Files Permit for New Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin Sign

We’ll start with a look at the permit, which was filed earlier today. The Notice of Commencement permit was filed by Walt Disney Imagineering, listing Design Communications Ltd. as the contractor for the work. The description of the work is “install signage” at an address for the Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin attraction in Tomorrowland.

More details, such as what sign or signs this permit could be referring to, are not available.

It’s possible that the permit could be referring to other exterior or interior signage, but history tells us that this likely means the marquee sign at the front of the attraction.

Just speculating here, but it would be a good time for Walt Disney World to update the marquee to match the design language of other updated signage in Tomorrowland, such as the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor signage that was updated at the start of the Tomorrowland refresh.

Other new signage in Tomorrowland that could offer a sneak peek of what’s to come with Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin includes updated signage for the Tomorrowland PeopleMover and the Carousel of Progress.
