The 18th Annual Visual Effects Society Awards took place in Los Angeles last night and the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge team picked up another win. The VES Awards is a prestigious, yearly celebration that recognizes outstanding visual effects artistry and innovation in film, animation, television, commercials, video games and special venues.
Nominated in the Outstanding Visual Effects in a Special Venue Project category, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance beat out the following nominees:
- Avengers: Damage Control (The VOID)
- Jurassic World: The Ride (Universal Studios Hollywood)
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
- Universal Sphere (Comcast Corporation)
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance puts guests in the middle of the action in an 18-minute experience. Much more than just a typical theme park ride, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance allows guests to walk through a Star Destroyer hangar, come face-to-face with Kylo Ren, and escape the grasp of the First Order.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is now open at both Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland.
