Star Tours StarSpeeder 1000 Cut From Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker Battle Scene

Fans of Star Wars and Disney Parks have had quite the couple of months. From the final installation in the “Skywalker Saga” with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker to the debut of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Disneyland, it’s not a bad time to be a fan.

Of course, not everything has to be a blockbuster movie or a massive theme park land to be significant in the fandom. Before there was a Batuu or Rise of the Resistance, guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios could get their Star Wars fix by jumping on board a StarSpeeder 1000 on Star Tours and fly to iconic destinations throughout the galaxy.

With the arrival of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters, Star Tours received updated scenes as well. One such scene in the ride puts guests right in the middle of the massive battle on Exegol. Of course, it wasn’t the only ship to arrive to assist with one final stand. 16,000 ships showed up on Exegol to try and defeat the Final Order fleet of Star Destroyers.

Just like in previous iterations of the big screen movies, fans kept an eye out for the StarSpeeder 1000, but it never showed up.

A tweet from Jean-Denis Haas, Associate Animation Supervisor at ILM, confirmed the existence of the Star Tours StarSpeeder 1000 in the battle of Exegol, but it looks like it got cut out of the final version of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.

When sharing some insights on a behind-the-scenes video, Haas pointed out the StarSpeeder 1000 as one of the ships he rendered for the film. Unfortunately, it doesn’t look like the ship made it into the film, with this particular scene shortened just enough for the StarSpeeder 1000 not to make it onto the big screen.

Of course, with 16,000 ships it might be possible that the StarSpeeder made it into another scene that we are unaware of, but for right now, it looks like the film was about 4 seconds too short for Star Tours fans. The StarSpeeder 1000 can be seen in this behind-the-scenes feature.
