Effective immediately, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has said that they will no longer be requiring international travelers to undergo COVID-19 testing upon arriving in the United States. They also said that they will not be restricting which airports international travel is allowed to arrive at.
Previously, enhanced entry health screening was conducted for those arriving from, or with recent presence in, China (excluding the Special Administrative Regions of Hong Kong and Macau), Iran, the Schengen region of Europe, the United Kingdom (excluding overseas territories outside of Europe), Ireland, and Brazil.
There are still bans in place, with specific exceptions, to China, Iran, European Schengen area, United Kingdom, Republic of Ireland, and Brazil.
The CDC says that the “new, more effective strategy focuses on the continuum of travel and the individual passenger, including pre-departure and post-arrival education, efforts to develop a potential testing framework with international partners, and illness response”. The lifting of restrictions applies to international travelers and US citizens alike.
As it relates to Disney World, international travel is a significant part of the bottom line. With international travel banned or restricted, Disney World has seen a shift in the makeup of their guests to over 50% of people visiting from local markets.
Disney has recently partnered with the U.S. Travel Association to encourage booking a vacation within the next six months as a way to increase happiness.
