Big Thunder Mountain Railroad Closing in June for Refurbishment

|

|

According to the Walt Disney World website, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closing for refurbishment in June 2021. The attraction will be closed from June 7 to June 12, 2021. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will reopen to guests on June 13, 2021.

Disney has not announced what work will be completed during the refurbishment, but with such a short closure, we don’t expect the work to be significant.

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad was originally expected to close from May 4 to May 21, 2020, but was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

  1. Recent videos showed that the water falls were off on the first hill. I think the last dip water effect was also missing. Seemed like it needed some TLC throughout

  2. Seems odd to close in the middle of June on such a high capacity ride with limited offerings. Is this a sign of more items and shows to open up by this time frame?
