After covering the final moments of Test Track 2.0 recently, we were headed out of EPCOT when, like a bug drawn to a light, we found ourselves being pulled toward the new nighttime lighting package for CommuniCore Hall & Plaza. Located in the southwest corner of World Celebration Gardens, CommuniCore Hall & Plaza comes alive once the sun sets.
The Plaza, which is an outdoor entertainment space, has six lighting columns with four dynamic spotlights on each column, combining for a spotlight effect closer to a nighttime spectacular than an astroturf plaza. In this first photo, you can see how the spotlights dance in the sky and make you want to take a closer look. Unfortunately, EPCOT has an early bedtime, which means that guests don’t get to take in the nighttime lighting package like they should be able to, but as the days get shorter and the temperatures drop (it feels like a lifetime from now), the Plaza should be a more habitable place.
Here’s a look around not only CommuniCore Plaza but also around the exterior of the CommuniCore building complex.
As much of a sucker as I am for bright and colorful lights, there’s no saving CommuniCore Hall.
