The San Angel Inn Restaurante in EPCOT has received some updates recently that seemingly improve the dining space both in terms of flow and lighting. If you’ve never heard of it San Angel Inn Restaurante is an indoor, table-service dining location at the Mexico Pavilion. It is located at the end of the indoor pyramid plaza, right next to the opening scene of the Gran Fiesta Tour boat ride. It’s sort of the closest thing that we have in Walt Disney World to the Blue Bayou Restaurant at Disneyland.
To that end, it has always been a dining location where you might not correctly stab your steak or salad on the first try due to lower lighting levels. On top of that, the seating arrangement was less than intimate in terms of how close you were to the table next to you. Here’s a look at a “before” photo from Disney.

Here’s another photo, showing the rather monotone seating layout and a pyramid in the distance.

During a recent visit to EPCOT, we stopped by before the restaurant opened for lunch and snapped a few photos, showcasing the new bench seating and brighter lighting. Of course, using a proper camera leads to brighter and more vibrant images, but here’s a look around!

Here’s a look at the pre-existing overhead lighting for the Mexico pavilion shopping area nearby, and a look toward the pyramid to close out the article.
