In addition to the multi-month refurbishment of the Gran Fiesta Tour attraction inside the Mexico Pavilion pyramid, new scaffolding has been installed on the exterior of the pyramid. At first glance, it may seem like a repainting, but there might be something more at play here. We made it out to EPCOT recently to take a look!
Mexico Pyramid Scaffolding at EPCOT
As you can see in our photos below, the left side of the pyramid currently has scaffolding reaching up near the top of the facade. It’s not immediately clear if this work is related to a refresh of the exterior of the facade, or some sort of access to an area on the roof. I would assume that rooftop access would be available via backstage routes, but there didn’t appear to be any obvious refurbishment work such as repainting when we visited. Here’s a closer look, including some photos of the details of the pyramid in case more changes are on the way.

Inside, there is an interesting setup, with what appears to be some sort of support columns installed in a doorway. My thought is that the exterior scaffolding is not for a repainting, but rather access for whatever these support columns are needed for.
