Imagineering Files Another Early Permit for Tropical Americas Retheme of DinoLand USA at Animal Kingdom

As Disney World prepares to begin the retheming of DinoLand USA into a land themed to the Tropical Americas region, Walt Disney Imagineering has filed an early notice of commencement permit very likely related to the work.

As we’ve previously covered, Disney World filed a permit for water management back in mid-March. That permit, which was filed with the state’s water management division, gave us a look at some of the back-of-house work planned to create an on-site trailer campus for Imagineering and third-party vendors during the transformation. The trailer complex, seen below, will be located north of Expedition Everest, but right along a backstage access road that leads to the DinoLand USA land.

In late May, Disney World was granted approval for the trailer complex from the state’s water management division, allowing them to move forward with plans for the backstage area. Now, Walt Disney Imagineering has filed a permit for the installation of trailers in this backstage area.

Again, while this work isn’t directly related to shovels in the dirt at DinoLand USA, it’s a critical first step in the project, and it might even signal Imagineering’s presence at the park is more long-term than just the DinoLand USA reimagining.

We expect to hear more about the Tropical Americas project at the upcoming D23 Expo this August!
