While the chances of the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights returning to Cinderella Castle at Magic Kingdom sits at 0% this year, and the chances of them ever returning seems to be approaching 0%, the chances of seeing a gingerbread house this year that celebrates the lost tradition is 100%. A secretive installation is underway at Disney’s Contemporary Resort for the returning Castle Display gingerbread house with an all-new theme celebrating the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights of yesteryear.
First, here’s a back look at the Dream Lights, which have not returned to Cinderella Castle since 2019.
Cinderella Castle Dream Lights Gingerbread House Installation
Starting November 8, Disney’s Contemporary Resort will be getting an extra holiday (and sweet) touch with their Castle Display. This dazzling creation, back for its 13th year, can be found on the 4th floor of the resort. Walt Disney Imagineers have designed this new overlay inspired by the Cinderella Castle Dream Lights.
The Contemporary Bakery team has been hard at work creating this display that stands over 17 feet tall and 25 feet wide. It’s made with 613 pounds of sugar, 1013 pounds of flour, 113 pounds of gingerbread spice, 51 pounds of chocolate, over 4,000 castle gingerbread bricks, and plenty of pixie dust! Don’t forget to search for the 13 hidden Mickeys and the one and only, 5-legged goat.
While visiting Disney’s Contemporary Resort today, we noticed that work was underway. Unlike in years past, the work was not visible to guests, hidden by a giant curtain. Of course, views from the upper floors of the resort provided a peek inside at the work taking place. Here’s a look!

I am sooo glad we were able to visit for the first and only holiday time during Thanksgiving in 2019, so we were able to experience the amazing dream lights for what would be the last appearance! They took my breath away (husband and kids as well!) I hope lots of pictures are posted so I can relive the magic, I am sure the artists will not disappoint!
