Following a rather tame weekday, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind had a larger crowd this weekend. As you may know, Cosmic Rewind is now operating a traditional standby line after more than 1,000 days with a Virtual Queue in place. The change came at a time when average wait times around Walt Disney World were mild to moderate. As such, crowds were mild to moderate following an initial rush on the morning that the standby queue debuted.
That said, it was understood by many that opening the standby on a Tuesday in late February wasn’t a true indicator of what wait times will be at the attraction moving forward. This weekend, we got a glimpse into where Cosmic Rewind will settle in terms of average wait time across Walt Disney World attractions.
Wait Time Climbs to 3.5 Hours at Cosmic Rewind This Weekend
According to data collected by thrill-data, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind posted a 3.5-hour wait time on Saturday, March 1st. Of course, a 20-minute window in the larger operating day isn’t necessarily indicative of the experience for the entire day. Another caveat to consider is that EPCOT is currently in between Festivals, making for considerably lower crowds. That changes this week with the start of the 2025 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival. In the meantime, let’s take a look at some of the average wait times to get a better picture of Cosmic Rewind’s early performance.
Even with a massive 3.5-hour wait time, the average posted wait time for March 1st was 103 minutes – the longest daily average wait time of its short standby line existence. A nearly 2-hour average wait time throughout the day is slightly higher than where we expect the ride will settle in over the next 6 months, but not too far off. Even an average wait time of 90 minutes would make it one of the longest posted wait times at Walt Disney World, which is what we expect to see.
In fact, as of publish time on Sunday, March 2nd, the attraction is averaging a 90-minute wait time for the day, second only to Flight of Passage. In the weeks and months ahead, we expect that Cosmic Rewind will remain in the top 5 of average wait times at Walt Disney World as one of the most popular rides across the four theme parks.
The best time to experience Cosmic Rewind remains the Early Entry period, with wait times climbing once the park opens. Late morning and early evening are when the attraction experiences the largest crowds, with a late-night ride possibly being the second-best time to experience the attraction.
Unlike other headliners such as Rise of the Resistance and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, Cosmic Rewind is a relatively reliable attraction, making waiting until the end of the night to ride less risky. Of course, if you want to eliminate all risk, you can purchase a Lightning Lane Single Pass to skip the line once per day. If the ride breaks down, you’ll be allowed to return at any point when it is running again that day.

That’s crazy I can’t wait to ride that ride soon.
