Imagineering Now Closer to Moving Into New Magic Kingdom Construction Offices

The northwest corner of Magic Kingdom is one of the most impressive construction projects we’ve seen in a while at Walt Disney World. There is an unbelievable amount of earth moving, including connected projects nearby that have required nearly two years of work to get to this point. In total, the impact on the forested areas in and around Magic Kingdom totals more than 300 acres. The project is getting ready to move into the next phase. Now, it looks like Walt Disney Imagineering is close to being able to move into construction offices just on the edge of Magic Kingdom to support the Cars-themed expansion of Frontierland, and the all-new Villains Land. Here’s the latest.

Imagineering Offices Closer to Opening at Magic Kingdom

A new permit filed with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection offers some insight into the current status of the Imagineering construction trailer complex being built on the western edge of Magic Kingdom. First, a bit of background.

In order to support the massive construction project seen above, Walt Disney Imagineering is working on constructing 37 trailers as part of the first phase of a trailer complex from which to work out of for the next few years. The permit calls for another dozen or more trailers as the project progresses.

Here’s a look at a May 2025 permit, showing the location and size of the trailer complex. There are two main trailer clusters in the permit, with a proposed third trailer cluster to the south. The smaller of the two clusters is an 8-wide trailer. The larger cluster is a 29-wide trailer, for a total of 37 total trailers.

In addition to the trailers, the permit calls for hundreds of parking spaces – this is a massive project with a massive workforce behind it.

The latest document, filed in late February, is a final clearance document. From my understanding, this document informs the state of Florida that construction on the related work is complete, and that Disney is ready to put the water management system into use.

If I’m reading the document correctly, Disney will be able to put the system into use this upcoming week. That would be a major milestone in getting these construction trailers online and filling them up with Imagineers and third-party contractors.

The completion of the trailer complex is timed nicely with a newly filed permit by Disney that seeks permission to begin construction on the infrastructure that will support the Cars-themed Piston Peak National Park and Villains Land.

In our coverage of those infrastructure-related permits, we note that Disney calls for a construction start timeframe of this month. With the trailer complex able to come online soon, and infrastructure work set to kick off shortly, everything seems to be moving well for the Cars and Villains projects.
