New Details for Disney Springs Bus Restrictions & Resort Hopping for Resort Guests

|

|

As we get closer to the June 28th implementation of new transportation restrictions at Disney Springs, we’re learning more about the nuts and bolts of the policy and logistics. While more information is expected to be communicated over the next 10 days, we have two confirmed tidbits that we can report now.

Resort Hopping with New Disney Springs Bus Restrictions

IN THIS ARTICLE:

  • How resort guests keep full bus and watercraft access
  • Why Swan & Dolphin and Shades of Green guests are covered
  • The best way to resort hop without a hotel reservation
  • The new time window non-resort guests need to know

RESORT HOPPING AS A RESORT HOTEL GUEST

This is the big one. If you have a resort hotel reservation, you can use any Disney Springs bus to any resort hotel. Stay at Disney’s Art of Animation and want to visit Disney’s Contemporary Resort? You can board the bus bound for Disney’s Contemporary Resort right at Disney Springs.

Resort hopping for resort guests is not impacted by the upcoming bus restrictions. Any guest with a valid Disney Resort reservation can also board the Sassagoula River Cruise from Disney Springs. Guests staying at Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin and the Shades of Green get the same transportation access as any other Disney World Resort hotel guest.

RESORT HOPPING WITHOUT A HOTEL RESERVATION

No hotel reservation does not necessarily mean no resort hopping. You will not be able to board a bus at Disney Springs without a valid reservation, but the theme park transportation hubs remain wide open. No restrictions are planned at the theme park bus hubs, so any guest who boards at a park can hop to any resort. Just make sure that your travels don’t take you through Disney Springs.

Say you want a Bison Burger and Northwest Iced Tea at Geyser Point Bar & Grill at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge. Park at a theme park, then hop on a bus. Right now, Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom look like the best transportation hubs for resort hopping as a non-hotel guest.

Some hotels also let guests park without reservations. When we went to review the new Muffuletta Burger at Port Orleans, we drove right up and parked. Resorts can restrict parking at any time, though, so the safest bet remains parking at the theme parks and hopping on a bus.

THE TWO-HOUR WINDOW FOR NON-RESORT GUESTS

Non-resort guests with valid dining or Enchanting Extras reservations can only board a bus at Disney Springs within 2 hours of their reservation time. The window applies to the watercraft as well.

This lines up with how parking at the resorts generally works. Extending the same rule to the Disney Springs buses and watercraft tracks with that approach.

WHAT WE STILL DON’T KNOW

A number of questions remain about the changes, and we’re working to get answers before the policy takes effect June 28. Disney will likely communicate more details over the next 10 days. For now, signage within Disney Springs informs guests of the upcoming policy change.

We’ll continue covering this as more information comes in. If you have questions, drop them in the comments below or reach out on social media, and we’ll do our best to get an answer.
