Report: Major Reorganization Moves Disney Consumer Products from Experiences to Entertainment

A new report says that Disney is restructuring its Consumer Products division, moving most of its operations from Disney Experiences to Disney Entertainment Studios starting in October 2026. Thomas Mazloum, chairman of Disney Experiences, and Alan Bergman, chairman of Disney Entertainment Studios, reportedly announced the change in a joint memo. Disney reportedly says the move will align its merchandise and licensing business more closely with the creative teams developing the content behind it.

  • No leadership changes have been announced as part of the shift
  • Disney Consumer Products generated $63 billion in retail sales of licensed products in 2025

Mazloum and Bergman reportedly framed the reorganization as a way to align the consumer products business with the Studios’ creative teams. Those teams develop the movies, shows, and characters that drive merchandise and licensing. “Disney Consumer Products plays a pivotal role in translating Disney stories into everyday consumer experiences, helping fans connect with the characters, worlds and memories they love,” the two said in a joint statement. “At its best, this work happens when storytelling, commerce and experiences come together from the very beginning, creating cohesion across the entire Disney ecosystem.”

Disney Consumer Products currently sits within Disney Experiences, alongside the theme parks, cruise line, and Walt Disney Imagineering. Lisa Baldzicki took over as president of Disney Consumer Products in March. We reported on that change when Thomas Mazloum was named chairman of Disney Experiences following Josh D’Amaro’s move to CEO. Baldzicki stepped into the role previously held by Tasia Filippatos. Filippatos moved into a newly created position overseeing Disney Parks International.

Disney hasn’t announced any leadership changes as part of this restructuring. The company reportedly said it will share additional updates as the transition progresses through the rest of 2026. Disney remains the largest licensor in the industry, generating $63 billion in retail sales of licensed consumer products in 2025 across more than 100 product categories and over 180 countries. Nearly all of that scale rests on characters and franchises born in Disney’s film and television studios, from Marvel and Star Wars to Pixar and Disney Animation. Housing the merchandise business under Studios leadership gives Disney a more direct line from a film’s development to store shelves.

Mazloum and Bergman described the shift as a continuation of that existing work. “This evolution honors the incredible work of Disney Consumer Products employees around the world,” the two said, adding, “this positions us to create even greater opportunities for Disney stories, characters, products and experiences in the years ahead.”

What Happens Next

The transition reportedly begins in October 2026, though Disney hasn’t detailed which teams or functions will move first. Disney Consumer Products includes the company’s licensing operations, the Disney Store retail platform, and Disney Publishing Worldwide. All three currently report up through Disney Experiences alongside the theme parks and cruise line. We’ll continue to follow this story as more details emerge.
