Well, it’s kind of hard to believe it, but the expanded “Castle of Magical Dreams” has been topped off at Hong Kong Disneyland. The expansion to Sleeping Beauty Castle has been under construction since January 2018, but has seen a recent acceleration in construction. As a matter of fact, here’s a look at Sleeping Beauty Castle just one year ago when we visited Hong Kong Disneyland.
Before we jump into the photos, here’s a look at the concept art released for the newly reimagined castle.
The castle is essentially an amalgamation of various styles representing 13 different Disney princesses. Each of these thematic architectural elements are inspired by the stories of much-loved Disney Princesses — Tiana, Aurora, Ariel, Mulan, Jasmine, Snow White, Moana, Cinderella, Merida, Pocahontas, Belle, Rapunzel — along with Anna and Elsa from Disney’s “Frozen” — will all have their moment to shine in sequence throughout this summer. With special attention to the iconic patterns, textures, colors and ornamentation, guests will be able to recognize the individual elements inspired by their favorite Disney heroines, celebrating a sense of diversity, inclusion and unity.
The newest photos come to us from @DMK_Blog on Twitter, who was able to capture photos of the tallest tower now installed on the castle. These photos come from behind the castle as seen from Fantasyland.
Work on the Castle of Magical Dreams is expected to be completed by Summer 2020, but the construction appears to be moving along nicely.
Keep checking back with us here at BlogMickey.com as we continue to cover the Castle of Magical Dreams project and our thanks once again to @DMK_Blog on Twitter for allowing us to use the photos.
