Pandora looking so good, it’s absolutely glowing. At least, it will be soon thanks to the ongoing maintenance of the “bioluminescent” walkways that light up when the sun goes down.
When the themed land from the Avatar movie was announced, so to were big plans for a walkway that would light up under your feet as you walked beneath floating mountains. While the effect of floating mountains was pulled off quite effectively, the glowing-under-your-feet pathways left some to be desired. And that was on opening day.
Fast forward to today, and a land that has beaten the odds in terms of guest satisfaction while housing an attraction that continues to be one of the most popular in all of Walt Disney World. The floating mountains still look great, riding on a banshee continues to be a nearly religious experience, but the pathways are certainly showing the daily wear.
Over the years, we’ve documented some of the lowlights of the pathways, but today we’re happy to see a large portion of the walkways are getting a refresh to bring back the glow! Here’s a look at the work taking place today in Pandora – The World of Avatar.
Notable in the area cordoned off are some orange highlights that we haven’t seen before.
