The Tomorrowland PeopleMover has received an updated status in the My Disney Experience app and Walt Disney World website. The attraction, which we told you would see significant downtime this summer has been changed to a status of Temporarily Unavailable.
Disney has also removed all operating hours for the attraction, as it undergoes extensive work after not being able to operate after the unprecedented closures of the Disney World theme parks.
Disney has not commented on the attraction since the theme parks reopened earlier this month. The attraction was not scheduled for a refurbishment, and does not show up on refurbishment calendars.
As always, we’ll continue to keep an eye on the situation and keep you up to date with the latest right here on BlogMickey.com
I’m so sad to read this!! Hopefully it is fixed by September when I’m going to be there!!
I think it’s nuts – how much money we spend on tickets & then get there & a rash of breakdowns & closures. If only a portion is going to be available for my use, then I should only pay a portion of the price. & when did this recurring problem begin? Under Iger? Or Chapek? Get it together Disney!
Makes me wonder if this and other rides were not run at all during the closure. The PeopleMover is old, and old motors and mechanical systems do not take well to extended periods of idleness. Seals dry out and shrink, lubricants turn to sludge…
Linear motor, only wheels have bearings.
The people mover was down before the closing of the parks.
It could be due to the lack of ability to physically distance onboard the attraction. When the two cars pass each other, there is likely less than 6 feet between the two cars.
