Hollywood Studios Survey Asks About FastPass+, Wait Times, Crowds, Safety, Rise of the Resistance Boarding Groups, and More

An extensive survey is being sent to guests visiting Disney’s Hollywood Studios (and likely other parks) asking them about their visit during a global pandemic.

While not the topic of this post, it’s interesting to note that Disney doesn’t need guest survey Cast Members in the theme parks anymore as a result of the Disney Park Pass reservation system. Disney is able to know which park you visited on any given day and if you actually went or not based on your theme park reservation. As a matter of fact, we can’t remember the last time we saw a cluster of guest survey Cast Members in the theme parks. They are still stationed at Disney Springs because there is no Disney Park Pass reservation system for the Disney World shopping and dining district. Just an aside. Now on to the meat of the post.

As Disney World continues to evaluate their safety measures implemented as a result of the ongoing global pandemic that we’re very much still in the midst of, they continually send out surveys to guests visiting the theme parks to get a good idea of what the experience was like from the guest point of view. In a survey that covered a broad swath of topics, Disney is inquiring about how guests feel about everything from health and safety to the removal of FastPass+. Here are some of the topics a recent survey covered.

    Crowds

There’s no way around it, Disney World is much busier than it was when the theme parks first opened back in July. That said, Disney CEO Bob Chapek said that the parks are still operating with a 25% capacity restriction in place, and we believe him. The fact that there are more feet on the ground doesn’t mean that the CEO is lying about current crowd levels, but it does shed a light on just how poor attendance was in the opening weeks after the COVID-19 shutdown.

    Lost Magic

Lost magic. That’s the topic of the next set of questions. Whether it is the suspension of FastPass+ or removal of nighttime spectaculars, the lack of Character meet and greets or no more Extra Magic Hours, Disney wants to know how much of an impact the “lost magic” is having on a Disney World vacation.

Rise of the Resistance Boarding Groups

While most of the questions up until this point would be generic for all four theme parks, Disney also wants to gather feedback from guests who experienced the Rise of the Resistance virtual queue. Back in August, we asked why Disney isn’t implementing a standby queue for Rise of the Resistance when park capacity is limited. Yes, we just got done saying that there are more people in the parks now than in August, but not necessarily at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, which has been the top choice for just about anyone visiting Disney World since July. As a result, the park has been at or near the 25% capacity limits put in place since July.

    Added Magic

Even though Disney has suspended parades, nighttime spectaculars, and character meet and greets, they have added new character cavalcades that run periodically throughout the day as a form of added magic.

While not necessarily “added”, there are characters you can experience while remaining physically distanced. The only catch is that they’re all in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.

    COVID-19 Aversion and Safety Measures

The majority of the survey asks guests how they feel about the safety measures put in place at Disney World. Disney also wants to know how averse you were to COVID-19 as it related to visiting Disney World.

    New Bag Check

Disney also inquired about the screening process, which has been a breeze since the Artificial Intelligence bag scanners were installed.

    Wait Times and Lines

Perhaps one of the easiest ways to visualize the increase in guests at the theme parks since they reopened in July is by looking at ride lines. Due to physical distancing, lines appear much longer than the actual waits would suggest. Keeping guests 6′ from each other means that ride lines will “show” a multi-hour wait while the actual wait will be in the 30 minute range or even less.

    Reason for Visit

Finally, Disney wants to know why guests visited Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
