Walt Disney Imagineering has just shown off an all-new prototype robot that is early in the development process, but Disney says it can “fall down, get back up and even do a somersault”.

As seen below, the robot resembles a bunny, and many on social media have speculated that the prototype robot could be used to represent the character Judy Hopps from Zootopia. Shanghai Disneyland is preparing to open a Zootopia-themed land this year, but there is no word on if the prototype robot will be utilized in the new land or not. The prototype robot climbed out of a box on its own before falling and standing back up. Imagineeris then performed a demonstration where the robot zoomed forward on the rollerskates before completing a forward roll and standing back up. Imagineers stressed the the prototype robot is meant to be lifelike and create an emotional connection with the audience.
