The bat exhibit part of the Maharajah Jungle Trek is now closed for refurbishment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The exhibit closed on Feb. 17th, and we made it out to Disney’s Animal Kingdom earlier today to take a look at the closure (but mostly Bakso the baby Sumatran tiger). The bat exhibit will reopen sometime in early March, according to Walt Disney World.
Bat Exhibit Refurbishment at Disney’s Animal Kingdom
While the bat exhibit itself is behind tarps, the building remains open as a critical part of the walking route for the Maharajah Jungle Trek. Inside, guests are still presented with the option to walk straight through the building toward the tigers, or to head into the bat viewing area.
Typically, the bat viewing area is fairly wide open, giving guests a peek into the forested bat aviary. During the refurbishment, tarps have been rolled down to prevent a view inside of the exhibit. A nearby window is also covered up during the work.
Guests can still see two lizards and speak with a Cast Member at the location. Here’s a look around!
