Walt Disney World has filed a new permit with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) for a new contractor parking lot just north of Disney’s Animal Kingdom. The new parking lot will be used by third-party contractors to support construction projects at Disney’s Animal Kingdom now and in the future. The biggest construction project that has been officially announced for the park is the Tropical Americas land that will replace DinoLand USA. Here’s a look at the permit details.
Permit for Contractor Parking Lot

The parking lot is located just north of Kilimanjaro Safaris, and south of Western Way. The parking lot will be adjacent to the expansive tree farm and horticulture location for Walt Disney World.
As you can see in the detailed permit below, there will be room for hundreds of parking spaces. The permit calls for an impact of nearly 10.5 acres of space. The scope of the permit covers infrastructure to support contractor parking. Infrastructure includes roadways, parking, sidewalks, and drainage collection/conveyance systems.

The Tropical Americas project is scheduled to open in 2027, and Disney broke ground last month. In addition to the expansive contractor parking lot above, Walt Disney Imagineering has on-site offices just north of Expedition Everest. Those offices should be in use soon, if not already.
